Proof of Design for Series 200
formerly Series A & LT
Valves per AWWA
Section 5.2.4.2 & 5.2.4.3 C-504-87

Objective
Proof of Design

To qualify Series 200 (formerly Series A & LT) valve as to meeting the requirements of AWWA C-504-87 Section 5.2.4. Sizes 2" thru 20" Series 200 valves of the following construction were subjected to the following procedures:
Body:
Cast Iron ASTM A126 Class B
Disc:
Aluminum Bronze ASTM B148 C95300 (2"-6") or C95400 (8"-20")
Stainless Steel ASTM A351 Grade CF8M

Shaft:
Steel ASTM A276-316
Bearings:
Luberized Bronze or Reinforced Teflon
Seat:
Buna "N"
Procedure:
One 4" valve was installed between weld neck flanges. An upstream pressure of 150 PSIG was applied. The valve was applied. The valve was opened and closed at 15 second intervals thus dropping the pressure to zero PSIG on every cycle. The valve was cycled for a total of 11,000 cycles. The valve was removed from the test stump, disassembled and all parts measured. One valve each of size, 2", 2-1/2", 3", 4", 5", 6", 8", 10", 12", 14", 16", 18", and 20", was placed between weld neck type flanges. 300 PSI was placed on upstream side of the valve with disc in the closed position. The duration of the test was 20 minutes for 2" thru 12" sizes and 30 minutes for 14" thru 20" sizes. All valves after test were disassemble and inspected for 30 minutes for 14" thru 20" sizes. All valves after test were disassembled and inspected for part deformation. No deformation was observed.
Summary:
2" thru 20" Series valves have been tested to AWWA C-504-87 Section 5.2.4.
Conclusion:
All valves proved to meet pressure and cycle requirements of AWWA C-504-87 Section 5.2.4.
